Corfu, Greece

Cofinetta Square

The Cofinetta Square is one of the most well known landmarks of Corfu town. At the northern end of the Liston and a brief walk away from the church of St Spyridon, it got its name in the early 20th century from the low iron fence of its central flower-bed in the form of a basket (cofinetta=small basket). Locals and visitors enjoy their coffee, drinks or snacks in the square’s cafes, away from the hub of the always more lively Liston. On its North side, the Palace of St Michael and St George makes an impressive background.
