General State Archives – Corfu Archives

History

The Corfu Archives are housed in the Old Fortress’ former British barracks. They cover sporadically the period from 1320 to 1537 AD and from 1538 AD to this day with remarkable competence. Their content, gradually increasing with additions from public and private sources, is set in more than 8,000 meters of shelves, constituting them the richest in historic documents and one of the country’s greater Archives. It contains valuable collections of parchment documents, architectural and topographic plans.
