Collas, our captivating new ground floor suite, gets its name from a prestigious Corfu family, whose descendants include both a Mayor and one of Corfu’s eminent Town Planners.
Named by Corfu born John D. Collas (1901-1993), son of the then (1899-1911) Mayor of Corfu, Demetrios Collas. In 1926, he studied in Milan and Rome Architecture and Town planning, was for many years head of Corfu’s Town Planning department and after he retired, in the ‘60ies, he opened his own private office in this place, while the family apartment was and still is on the 3rd floor. He had inherited his mother’s artistic talent and had himself a fine hand in sketching and painting, also was a first-class photographer.
