Inspired and named after the Mon Repos Palace, which was built on Corfu in 1826 by the British High Commissioner, Sir Frederik Adam, as a summer residence he offered to his Corfiot wife. This is also where Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, (Queen Elisabeth II’s Consort, was born in 1921. He was the sun of Prince Andrew, of the Hellenic royal family, and was christened at the time by the Mayor of Corfu.
